When it comes to arts and events Spokane has a lot to enjoy. You will love the option to take in ballgames, art galleries, Broadway performances, museums, and community events. An overview of some of the most popular Spokane events are detailed below to help make your decision easier.
Spokane Symphony
The Spokane Symphony is an amazing tradition and it is a wonderful experience for anyone able to listen to the 70 piece professional orchestra. More than 60 concerts are performed each year and anyone interested in taking in some Spokane arts should visit the symphony.
Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture
This world class museum displays collections that fit into three different disciplines. These disciplines include fine art, regional history, and American Indian and other cultures. Visit the Northwest Museum once or several times and you will always find something new to explore.
Lilac Festival
One of the Spokane events that is looked forward to each year is the Lilac Festival. The main event, The Spokane Lilac Festival Armed Forces Torchlight Parade, takes place downtown on the third Saturday in May - don't miss it!
Bloomsday
The Bloomsday Run is a 12 kilometer race open to all walkers, runners, wheelchairs, strollers, and even assisted wheelchairs. This is no small event --imagine over 50,000 runners clogging the streets of downtown. The Bloomsday Run has been happening every spring for the past three decades, and it is a true Spokane tradition.
Hoopfest
Hoopfest is the world's largest 3 on 3 basketball tournament! The tournament takes place downtown and focuses on community involvement, fair play, and athleticism.
Royal Fireworks Concert
This two day Spokane concert is worth a visit by anyone living in or visiting the Spokane area. This is a free festival that is based on baroque period arts and that is capped off with a firework display timed to Handel’s music played by a 60 piece royal band.
First Night Out
Spokane’s First Night Out is similar to other events of the same name across the country. There is plenty of music and artists as well as other activities to take part in. The entire family will enjoy this event that takes place every New Year’s Eve.
Pig Out in the Park
Good eating and fun go hand in hand and that is exactly what you will find at the Pig Out in the Park festival. There are scores of concerts to enjoy, food booths from Spokane's most popular restaurants, adult beverage gardens, and free admission! The event takes place for five days in late August/early September in conjunction with the Labor Day weekend.
Other Spokane events to consider include checking out a semi pro baseball game with the Spokane Indians or if you prefer hockey check out a Spokane Chiefs game. Everyone loves to see a basketball game at the Gonzaga Bulldogs new arena. These are just some of the Spokane arts and events you may find enjoyable while in the area.
