Spokane is a wonderful place to call home and that’s partly because of the wonderful weather, great business opportunities, excellent education, and beautiful Spokane real estate. Spokane has undergone some major changes in the last few years mainly to revitalize the downtown area. Some of these changes include the building of the River Park Square shopping mall, as well as the revitalization of the Davenport Hotel. Investment in the downtown area has really changed the way downtown Spokane appears and increased its popularity among residents.
River Park Square
Downtown Spokane’s amazing shopping mall and entertainment complex opened in 1999 and it cost $110 million of private and public money to build. The construction of the mall helped to revitalize the downtown area of Spokane and today it serves as a wonderful place to shop, dine, and simply enjoy a day or evening out.
Davenport Hotel
The downtown gem of Spokane is the Davenport Hotel. This is beautiful Spokane real estate and it has been world famous since it first opened almost 100 years ago in 1914. This hotel offered air conditioning, the first of its kind, as well as housekeeping carts, a central vacuum system, and more. The hotel originally cost $3 million dollars and offered its guests a stay in the lap of luxury. In the late 1950s the hotel began to go downhill and with every owner it was less of what it used to be. By the late 1980s, when the last Davenport died, it was believed the Davenport Hotel would be demolished. In 2000 the hotel was purchased, and after an investment of millions of dollars the hotel was grand once again. In 2002 the downtown gem was polished and sparkling and world class for the second time.
Other reasons why you might want to buy Spokane real estate include the educational opportunities. The K-12 public schools in Spokane have won many awards for educational excellence and the colleges are world class as well. Quality of living is outstanding as well with safe neighborhoods, affordable Spokane real estate, recreational opportunities, and more. The weather is fantastic with approximately 260 days of sunshine every year and the American Lung Association rates the area grade “A”. Surrounded by 76 lakes, 32 golf courses, five ski areas, and four large rivers, Spokane residents are never at a loss for something fun to do no matter what season!
When looking for a place to live you should definitely consider Spokane real estate because there is just so much for residents to enjoy in the area, not to mention its affordability.
